SERVICES!

Who are we? First of all we are English as a Foreign Language Teachers

What is our experience? We have taught all levels of EFL from beginners to very advanced including Cambridge Proficiency. Some of our students have been illiterate in their own language and we have had to tailor make literacy materials to suit their needs.

Many of our students have been women who could not come to a formal class because of family commitements so we have had to go out to them and teach in church halls or community centres. We have prepared young people for entrance into high school and supported them in specific subjects in school.

At the other end of the language proficiency scale we have designed courses for English for Specific Purposes and supported overseas doctors hoping to practice in this country. In addition to teaching in the UK where (generally speaking) there are lots of course books and audio visual materials we have had a lot of experience in teaching abroad where money for education was limited and we had to improvise and use our ingenuity.

We hope you will see from this brief description of our long and varied experience that we have a lot of expertise to share with you.

Who are we? We are also Trainers of Teachers as a Foreign Language

Together we had planned and taught courses for EFL teachers. So we know how to break down the basic four skills into small units and can demonstrate how to use a variety of methods in your teaching.

Some of our trainees were professional teachers who wished to change to EFL teaching but others were not experienced teachers and had to be shown how to plan and how to teach an ELF course.

They were shown how to use audio visual materials , cope with different levels in one class, and test their students' learning. We intend to use our experience as EFL teachers and trainers to enable you to do a good job in teaching your own students.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What will I learn from this course?

This course will give you the confidence to start teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to pupils in a high school or to adults in a group or individually. You will learn the basic first steps in language teaching.

Do I need previous experience?

You do not need any previous experience. You will need to be a competent English speaker whether it is your native language or you learned it at school or college. The most important thing you need is a desire to help your students acquire a basic standard of English using tried and true methods.

Who will this course help?

It will help anyone whose own mastery of English is of a very good standard  to teach basic English in a situation where sophisticated teaching aids are in short supply. This might apply to:

  • Gap year students
  • University language students who have to do a year abroad
  • People who are contemplating a change of career
  • Teaching assistants
  • Missionaries in Africa
  • English speakers resident abroad who want  to teach local people
  • Aid workers

How much is the course?

The course is modestly priced. An individual unit costs £2.50 (two pounds fifty pence sterling) Unit Three ( Literacy ) is a double module and costs £5 (five pounds sterling). If you purchase the entire course you will get a discounted price of £30 (thirty pounds sterling).

Do I have to buy all the units at once?

No , you can buy individual units to suit your needs.

Will I get help if I have any problems?

Yes, of course. We offer a package of support hours so that we can talk through any of your difficulties. We do this by talking to you personally via Skype.

I’m teaching in a poor country with little to spend on materials. Will your course help me?

We understand perfectly how difficult it is to teach in these circumstances. The teaching aids we recommend are easily made and cost very little.

I speak English quite well but sometimes I need help. Can you do anything for me?

Our aim is to help and support you and that includes any problem you may have speaking English.

How do I get started on the course?

Get in touch with us here and we can get you started.

Will I get a certificate at the end of the course?

When you have completed the course we will give you a test. If we are happy with the result you will obtain a certificate.

When I have completed your basic course can I progress to a higher course?

Yes, of course. You can take our more advanced courses or you can apply to a training college or university for professional training. Your certificate will show that you have mastered some of the skills required to be an English teacher.
